Website Development in Uganda, Engineered to Last

Magicweb builds websites in clean, semantic code rather than assembling them from page builders. The result is faster, safer, easier to extend and far cheaper to maintain over its life.

What we mean by custom development

A lot of websites in the market are assembled from a purchased theme and a stack of plugins. That is quick to launch and expensive to own: every plugin is a potential security hole, a performance cost and something that can break during an update.

We write the front end ourselves. Pages ship as static HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript, which means there is very little that can go wrong and very little to keep patching.

Performance is a build decision

Speed is not a setting you switch on at the end. It comes from choosing modern image formats and serving the right size for the device, self-hosting fonts and loading only the weights actually used, deferring non-critical JavaScript, and refusing to load a large library for a small effect.

We test on throttled mobile connections, because that is closer to real conditions than a fast office connection.

Accessible and semantic by default

Correct HTML elements, one clear heading structure per page, visible keyboard focus, labelled buttons, sufficient colour contrast and support for reduced-motion preferences. This makes sites usable for more people, and it happens to be what search engines read best too.

Security and reliability

SSL configured properly, sensible security headers, no directory listing, and a hosting setup that is straightforward to back up and restore. Static sites remove entire categories of risk, because there is no database or admin login to attack.

Integrations that earn their place

Click-to-call, WhatsApp messaging, enquiry and booking forms, maps, analytics, product catalogues and payment paths. We add what supports the business and leave out what only adds weight.

Redesigns and rescues

If your current site is slow, breaks on mobile, or nobody can update it any more, a rebuild is often faster than repairing it. We keep the pages that already earn traffic, map redirects so rankings carry over, and rebuild the rest.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions.

Do you build on WordPress?
We build most sites as fast static websites, which is why they load quickly and need very little maintenance. Where a client genuinely needs to publish frequently and edit everything themselves, we discuss a content management approach that suits the team rather than defaulting to one.
Can I update the website myself?
Yes. We agree at the start which parts you need to change regularly and set the site up so those are straightforward for you, with a walkthrough at handover. If you would rather not touch it at all, our maintenance plans cover content changes.
What happens if something breaks after launch?
You contact us on WhatsApp or by phone. Fixing issues with work we built is part of the relationship, and maintenance plans cover ongoing updates, backups and monitoring.
Do you work with our existing developer or IT team?
Yes. We can hand over clean, documented code, or work alongside an internal team on the parts they do not cover.
